25th Huckleberry Loppet 2023
Rising Up Raven

At the beginning of December, I was approached by the Golden Nordic Ski Club Society (GNSC) to create something special for the club’s 25th Anniversary of The Huckleberry Loppet. All kids receive a homebaked cookie and adult winners receive wild picked local huckleberries for their trophy! As this my 25th year of living in Golden and 11th year being a part of the team at GSNC, I was excited, touched and grateful that yet another dream was coming true for my artisan small business.
Below is the custom painting Rising Up Raven. Raven is the name of the trail. It is a local’s favourite in which it inspired me to create a memorable painting having skied it many, many times – solo, with friends, groomed and un-groomed, slushy and wintry, cloudy, bluebird and everything in between. The subtle details in the painting reveal insights on how nordic skiers travel and our backdrop of magnificent mountains we are surrounded by to enjoy while we ski. Thank you to Golden Nordic Ski Club, Board of Directors and Staff. The buffs are on their way and I’m excited to see how the participants enjoy them. Happy 2023, ALL!

My commissioned work is keeping my busier, as I have patrons who have committed to work with me on specific landscapes in mind that they want in their collection. My clients understand that one cannot force creativity, it needs to flow. We have a timeline that is guided by intuition and process, rather than absolutes.
